MV Girls Soccer Varsity vs Genesis United Homeschool (2 - 1) Win The Lady Wildcats got off to a great start in the Panther Classic at Goebel Soccer Complex with a 2-1 victory over Indy Genesis Friday evening. The girls started off applying some great pressure from the start. They were able to control the tempo of the game for about 70 minutes. Ella Sponn started the scoring off in the first half with a beautiful goal off an assist from Abigail Powell. The Lady acts had multiple chances that just went wide of the goal. Taylor Ellison had several corner kicks that just missed going into the back of the net. The girls came out strong again in the second half connecting on several good passes but again just came up short of the goal. Ella Sponn again got a ball from Abigail Powell and was able to take on the Indy defense and find the back of the net to out the girls up 2-0. Indy found a breakaway that Alyssa Fendel made a great save but the ball bounced away and an Indy player was able to slide it past Fendel on the rebound. With the score 2-1 with about 15 minutes to play MV had several chances with Emma Jade Brenner and Audrey Schelhorn both having chances but saves by Indy’s Goalkeeper kept the score 2-1. The Lady Cats are back in action at 8am Saturday and 2pm Saturday as well!
