The date for Lena Romero's signing with Kaskaskia College has been set for Friday, April 5, 2024. We invite you to join us in the Athletic Foyer for this event which starts at 3:15 pm. Please enter the Main Gym entrance at "Circle Drive" once the buses have moved out. Lena, an outstanding defender, will continue playing soccer at the next level as she joins the Blue Angels of Kaskaskia Junior College. Located in Centralia, IL, Kaskaskia is a member of the NJCAA and the GRAC. Ms. Romero takes with her 7 years of soccer experience and 4 varsity letters with her in transitioning to play for Head Coach Joe Basch. Ironically, most of Romero's playing has been under MVHS's former head coach, Sammy (Schu) Hurst, who also played for Coach Basch. When talking about Kaskaskia, Ms. Romero has always loved soccer and has wanted to play in college. She chose Kaskaskia because she loves the school and wants an opportunity to play for Coach Basch who has an outstanding record in both wins and in placing his players at a 4 year college after Kaskaskia. She plans to major in Business. Joe Basch is in his 16th season as head coach for the Kaskaskia College Blue Angels Soccer Team. He was the first women’s soccer coach and in his time at Kaskaskia he has led the team to a 149-75-13 record. He has coached 1 All-American, 33 all region players, 42 players that have gone on to 4-year schools, 10 academic all American teams, and 45 individual academic all Americans.
