Mt. Vernon High School is excited to welcome Devin Rutherford as an Assistant Coach for the Boys Basketball program. A native of Paoli, Indiana, Coach Rutherford has spent his life around athletics as a multi-sport athlete, team captain, and competitor. His coaching experience spans football, soccer, basketball, baseball, and cross country, but basketball has always remained his passion. Coach Rutherford brings a relationship-first approach to coaching, believing that the most important work happens beyond the scoreboard. His philosophy centers on building meaningful connections with student-athletes, serving as a positive role model, and helping young people grow into outstanding men, teammates, and members of the community. Many in Mt. Vernon may already know Coach Rutherford from his time working with the Mt. Vernon Parks & Recreation Department. After spending several years in our community, he was excited for the opportunity to return and help build the future of Wildcat Basketball alongside Head Coach Robin Duncan. "I hope to bring a positive influence, leadership, and help build a basketball program that the entire community can support," Rutherford shared.
