Mount Vernon High School

The Mt. Vernon boys’ soccer team played host to the Reitz Panthers on Saturday afternoon. Mt. Vernon was looking to build off of their Thursday night win over Boonville. The Wildcats held their own for most of the first half despite missing one of their usual starters. The Wildcats also lost two other starters in the first half. Despite missing key players the Wildcats entered the break down only 1-0. In the second half Mt. Vernon lost two more players and gave up two more goals to suffer their largest loss of the season. Fortunately none of the injuries appear to be long term injuries and the Cats will hopefully be back to full strength on Wednesday night as they wrap up their regular season at home against Washington, looking to secure second place in the conference.
