The Mount Vernon Invitational showcased some of the areas best talent last night. The young Wildcats showed a lot of promise for the future as they produced 9 personal records against top competition. Wesley Campbell continues to improve as he posted a PR in the 100 M (11.92). Freshman Hunter Anslinger has now PR'd in the 200 M in back to back meets. Braxton Whitfield 110 H (18.08) and Maddex Salee 300 H (44.41) both had personal best to claim 5th in their events. Thomas Scates knocked 14 seconds off of his 3200 M as he continues to develop and looks on track for a great fall cross country season. The 4x800 (8:59) relay team had a huge PR knocking 14 seconds off in a shoot out of a race. The team finished 5th with only 0.41 seconds separating 3rd from 5th. Gavin Schu had his best showing in shot put throwing 39'04 and Sean Spencer did the same the in discus. Sean improved over two feet throwing for 109'10. Saint Henderson claimed a spot on the podium with a 3rd place in shot put, a really impressive performance as he was the youngest thrower on the podium. Ryan Lilleston took 2nd in the 400M in what would be the biggest performance of the night. Ryan posted a time 49.34 breaking the school record that has stood since 1962. The Wildcats travel to South Spencer next and will then will try to make the most of some much needed rest to prepare for PAC.
