Mount Vernon High School

Mt. Vernon finished off an undefeated week with a victory over the Tell City Marksmen on Saturday afternoon. The victory kept the Wildcats in a tie for second in their conference. The Wildcats controlled the first half of the game but couldn’t break through the Marksmen defense. The half came to a close with a score of 0-0. Five minutes into the second half Tell City scored their first, and only goal. Mt. Vernon responded a few minutes later when senior Grant Doherty scored off of a deflection from a throw in from fellow senior Aaron Weis. The game remained tied for five more minutes before Weis found Doherty for another goal off of a throw in. Doherty added an insurance goal with under five minutes remaining to secure the Wildcat victory. The Wildcats return home on Monday night against Princeton after being on the road for six consecutive games. The game kicks off at 5:30, come out and support the team.
